ACME Consulting was established at Chennai in February 1996, by Mr. P. Siva Sankaran and Mr. B.G.Menon, experienced management professionals, to provide advisory services to service organisations in the area of quality improvement. In 1997 ACME entered into a technical collaboration with Thomsun Consulting, a global healthcare consulting major, to provide certification based quality management consulting services specifically to the Indian Healthcare Sector, the first such initiative in the country. In 1998, ACME assisted the first Hospital in the country to get the ISO 9001 Quality Certification, the Mallya Hospital at Bangalore. Subsequently over the next 10 years, ACME assisted over 100 Hospitals in the Private Sector to go in for Quality Improvements leading to the ISO 9001 Certification.

With this never dying quest for achieving excellence in the quality of services provided by the healthcare sector, ACME entered into the NABH Accreditation area, as soon as it was launched in India in the year 2007 by the Quality Council of India. Based on our experience of over 10 years in the highly specialized healthcare quality field, we were quick to become the leading Consultancy in South India for the NABH Accreditation too.

In 2008 we were audited and approved by NABET, the Accreditation Wing of the Quality Council of India (QCI), based on which we were selected by QCI to assist 2 State Governments, first that of Tamil Nadu and then of Kerala in upgrading the quality of services at select Government Hospitals across both States.

In Tamil Nadu ACME was assigned to work with 12 District Hospitals and was successful in ensuring that 11 of these Hospitals cleared the NABH Pre-Assessment Audit within 12 months, the schedule fixed for us by the Government. It has been a matter of huge pride for us that 2 of these Hospitals – the District Hospital at Nammakal and the Taluk Hospital at Sholingar went to successfully clear the Final Accreditation Audit too, becoming the first set of Government Hospitals in South India to do so. The following year in Kerala, ACME was assigned with the NABH Accreditation at 14 Government Hospitals,. Till date 6of these Hospitals have successfully completed the Pre-Assessment Audit and out of them Taluk Headquarters Hospital at Shertallai, cleared the Final NABH Accreditation Audit and the General Hospital/ Ernakulam has been granted the Final Accreditation by NABH. Incidentally this is the First Government Hospital in the South India to have been granted the full Accreditation. ACME has continued to maintain its leadership position in the Healthcare Quality segment by being selected this year i.e., 2010, as the highest technically rated Consulting Organization in the country by the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC), the technical wing of National Rural Health Mission of the Ministry of Health, Government of India, New Delhi. We are now working with NHSRC in upgrading the quality of care to the requirements of the ISO 9001 Standards at select District Hospitals in the North Eastern States of Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh and at 48 Primary Health Centres in Tamil Nadu.

An MBBS, from KMC, Manipal, Dr. Annabel completed her Lean Six Sigma Black Belt in Healthcare from the American Society for Quality (ASQ), USA and got her Masters and Doctorate in Business Administration from the Robert Kennedy College at Zurich, Switzerland. She is currently one of the senior most NABH Assessors in the country.

Dr Annabel is Expert Advisor to the ACME NABH teams in both Tamil Nadu and Kerala. She provides periodical internal training to our team of Accreditation Consultants and also helps our Clients as they get ready for the assessment from NABH, by providing training to the Clinicians and doing Mock Audits, simulating the actual accreditation audits. She is an expert in the area of Infection Control.

Ms Anjana Menon is a Masters in Biochemistry from Bharathiyrar University, with an experience of over 8 years in the Healthcare Quality field. She worked for 6 years as Coordinator in Charge of Quality Assurance at the Kuwait Ministry of Health and now over 2 years in the area of NABH Accreditation with ACMEs Kerala operations. Her areas of expertise being Infection Control, Development of Organizational policies, procedures and standards to improve effectiveness of departments, Crisis Management, Hygiene Monitoring & Bio Medical Waste Management Systems.

As Senior Team Leader and On-site Consultant, Ms Anjana was responsible for Ernakulam General Hospital, the first Kerala Government to get successfully though the Final NABH Accreditation.

Ms Divya Nair is a Graduate Nurse with a Masters in Hospital & Health Information Administration, from Manipal University, Karnataka. She is also a US FDA Smart Certified, from Institute of Clinical Research Mumbai and in Advanced Clinical Research from the same Institute.

Ms Nair has over 7 years experience in the field of healthcare quality, having worked in the Quality Department at some of Indias prestigious Hospitals like the Manipal Hospital in Bangalore and Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) & Anathapuri Hospitals at Trivandrum

Ms Malini, a Lead Auditor in ISO 9001:2008 Standards from Nigel Bauer & Associates, is in charge of ACMEs TN PHC ISO 9001 Certification Project. ACME has been assigned this Project by the National Health Systems Resources Centre (NHSRC) a part of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), New Delhi

Ms Malini was chiefly responsible for leading the team of 14 Quality Management trained healthcare professionals, to assist 48 PHCs spread across 12 District of Tamil Nadu, to go for the ISO 9001:2008 Certification.

Ms Sabita Kurian is a Graduate in Chemistry from Stella Maris College, Chennai and a Post Graduate in Hospital Management from Apollo Institute of Hospital Administration, Hyderabad. She is trained in Hospital Quality Management and Quality Accreditations like the JCI, ACHS, ISO 9001, ISO 15189, NABL and the NABH from her stints as Manager Quality Assurance at Apollo Hospital, Colombo and Deputy Manager, Quality Systems at Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences, Trivandrum.

At ACME Ms Sabita is spearheading the Companys foray into the area of Patient Satisfaction Surveys, an area where she has gained good expertise during her period with the Apollo Hospital at Colombo.
